No RingCon 2016
There won't be another RingCon in the near future.
Motivating people to buy tickets for an event with stars from different fandoms is getting more and more difficult. This year, Outlander and the main actor Sam Heughan sort of managed to sell more tickets, yet we had anticipated a higher number of attendees.
We also noted that while a lot of fandoms – such as Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit or Star Trek – visit Conventions, not every fandom has the tendency to do so.
We of course have patrons but, contrary to FedCon , they're getting less and less. Every single attendee is delighted by what happened at RingCon , the atmosphere and so on, but most of them are not coming back the following year if their favourite actor won't attend.
It has been getting more and more difficult in the last years to be in the black with RingCon . And when the organizer notices the tendency to co-finance an event with the success of another one, putting an end to that certain event it is the next plausible choice.
This doesn't mean that there will never be another RingCon , but Fantasy-Fans still have our other event HobbitCon and should it be successful in April 2016, there certainly will be considerations about still doing Conventions for Fantasy- and Mystery-Fans.
